Training
Our fitness professionals use the National Academy of Sports Medicine’s Optimum Performance Training (NASM OPT) Model in working with our clients. This proven “system” incorporates seven phases of training which take into account each client’s goals, medical history, injury status and abilities. The benefit of this system is that we are able to safely and effectively progress any person towards his or her ultimate goal. Gone are the days of “cookie cutter” routines where a 58 year old woman with little exercise experience is doing the same exercises that the 20-something ex-football player is doing. Each of our NASM OPT workouts addresses the following components of fitness:
- Warmup
- Flexibility
- Core Strength and Endurance
- Balance
- Impacting and Reacting to Ground Forces
- Speed, Agility, Quickness and Coordination
- Muscle Specific Strength
- Cooldown
Fitness Profile or Assessment
Prior to beginning your personalized exercise program, one of our specialists will assess each of our clients in several areas of fitness. These “measurements” give us a starting point from which to gauge your success as you progress through your program. Included in this assessment are tests which look at:
- Height/weight
- Body Fat Percentage and Body Mass Index
- Blood Pressure and Pulse Rate
- Circumference Measurements
- Cardiorespiratory Fitness
- Upper Body Muscular Strength
- Lower Body Muscular Endurance
- Upper Body Muscular Endurance
- Lower Back/Hamstring Flexibility

These assessments are performed at eight week intervals to provide feedback to both the client and the fitness specialists. Results are entered into state of the art software and a full-color report is produced and given to each client with detailed explanation.
Postural Evaluation
Does your neck start hurting or do you get a headache every day around 3:30 PM? Is your low back really stiff when you wake in the morning or after driving your car for more than a few minutes? Like most of the adult population, you most likely have some muscular imbalances, which, over a lifetime, can lead to pain and subsequent injuries. Our fitness specialists are trained to evaluate your posture through what the NASM calls a “kinetic chain” assessment. Simply put, the kinetic chain is the coordination between your nervous, muscular and skeletal systems to produce movement. By observing each client performing 4 specific movements, our specialists can identify muscles that need to be lengthened and muscles that need to be strengthened. And like your workouts, this flexibility/strengthening routine will be personalized. This postural evaluation is done as part of your initial overall fitness profile.
